Job Description
To diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles, machinery, or mechanical systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. The mechanic will conduct inspections, perform routine servicing, and complete repairs in line with company standards and manufacturer guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and technical expertise.
* Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, filter replacements, brake servicing, and system inspections.
* Repair or replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, and braking systems - Cars and Light commercials.
* Conduct road tests or functional tests to confirm repairs.
* Maintain accurate service records and complete job cards/work orders.
* Ensure compliance with safety procedures and workshop standards.
* Identify required parts and assist with ordering or inventory management.
* Provide technical advice to colleagues or customers when necessary.
* Keep the workspace clean, organised, and compliant with health & safety policies.
Required Skills & Competencies
* Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
* Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and diagnostic reports.
* Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Good communication and teamwork abilities.
* Competence in using diagnostic equipment and standard workshop tools.
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
* Apprenticeship or formal training in mechanical servicing/repair (preferred).
* Minimum of 1–3 years' experience in a workshop or mechanical repair setting.
* Valid driver's licence
* Additional certifications, (electrical / hybrid qualification) are advantageous.
Physical & Work Requirements
* Ability to lift and handle heavy parts and equipment.
* Comfortable working in a workshop environment with exposure to noise and machinery.
* Ability to stand, bend, and work in challenging positions as required.
Hours of Work: Monday - Friday - 8.30am to 6pm.
Locations - 3 Olivemount Terrace Windy Dundrum Dublin
