A leading Irish construction and building contractor, delivering award-winning, multi-million-euro projects across Ireland and the UK, is seeking a commercially driven and strategic Purchasing Manager / Strategist to lead and develop its procurement function based in Galway.
This is a senior leadership role focused on driving cost efficiencies, strengthening supplier partnerships, and delivering measurable commercial value across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic purchasing initiatives to achieve improved commercial rates through: volume discounts, rebates, structured payment agreements.
Lead and continuously enhance a robust Master Price List.
Review and strategically manage global supply categories including energy, fuel, stationery, and other overheads.
Drive international procurement initiatives and sourcing strategies.
Lead, manage, and develop the Purchasing Department.
Deliver measurable cost-saving initiatives aligned with company financial targets.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while ensuring competitive market tension.
Requirements
Proven experience in strategic procurement or purchasing management.
Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering cost savings.
Experience negotiating high-value contracts and international sourcing agreements.
Construction industry experience is highly desirable.
Previous leadership experience managing and developing teams.
Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret spend data.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
