Location: MEDITE, Clonmel and SMARTPLY, WaterfordTo lead and execute strategic procurement and sourcing activities that drive cost efficiency, ensure supply reliability, and support business growth. The role is responsible for supporting the existing team, managing supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards, mitigating risk, and fostering cross‑functional collaboration to achieve the organisation’s strategic objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Sourcing: Develop and implement sourcing strategies for critical raw materials nationally and internally. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, monitor performance, and negotiate contracts to ensure value for money and service excellence.Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement professionals. Establish clear goals, provide training, and encourage continuous improvement and innovation within the procurement function.Stakeholder Management: Partner with internal stakeholders (Operations, Finance, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain) to understand business needs and align procurement activities with corporate and operational priorities.Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure strict adherence to company procurement policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements. Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.Cost Management & Inventory Optimisation: Conduct spend analysis, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and implement initiatives to reduce total cost of ownership/inventory while maintaining product and service quality.Corporate Governance & Sustainability Promote transparency and accountability in all purchasing practices. Ensure compliance with group procurement & Sustainability policies, standards, and best practices in corporate governance.Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analysing data, Power BI, identifying trends, and making data‑driven decisions to improve procurement outcomes.Typical Qualifications, Knowledge, ExperienceDegree or higher qualification in Procurement or Finance.Demonstrate high levels of IT skills in Excel, Power BI and other tools to analyse large scale data particularly relating to key raw materials thus making data‑driven decisions to improve procurement outcomes.A strong track record in teamwork across all depts.Ability to lead and provide guidance and support.Excellent communication, organisational & interpersonal skills requiredSelf‑motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to work on one’s own initiativeAbility to build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers, monitoring their performance and managing contracts effectively.To apply please send CV and Cover Letter to: careers@mdfosb.com with Procurement Lead in the subject line.
