Seeking a proactive and experienced Senior VAT Team Lead to join the European VAT function.
This role plays a key part in ensuring VAT compliance across multiple jurisdictions and providing expert support to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the monthly VAT reporting calendar for a team of four, ensuring timely and accurate submission of VAT returns, Intrastat, and EC Sales listings.
Provide support and guidance to team members in the preparation of VAT filings, ensuring completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Oversee month-end activities, including VAT account reconciliations, journal entries, cash flow management, forecasting, and monitoring of foreign exchange exposures.
Manage correspondence and ensure prompt responses to queries from VAT Authorities.
Maintain and strengthen the VAT control framework, supporting SOX compliance, internal audits, and external VAT inspections.
Contribute to VAT-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Carry out additional ad-hoc duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years' experience in VAT or finance roles, ideally in a multinational or shared services environment.
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
Proficiency with Oracle or similar ERP systems.
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
Experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools.
Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
Desirable: Experience in Customs or Trade Compliance.
Desirable: Prior team management or leadership experience.
