The successful candidate will be required to commence 13th July ****. Description of the training programme: The breast surgical oncology training programme at Cork University Hospital provides trainees with broad and multidisciplinary experience in breast surgery, oncoplastic techniques, medical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, histopathology, genetics, palliative care, radiology, clinical research and leadership.
Trainees actively participate in the weekly MDT, teaching and journal club meetings.
Trainees are actively supported and encouraged to formalise their research training by completing a Masters of Research in Medical Sciences through our academic partner University College Cork which delivers a one year MRes programme.
Technical training programmes are delivered through the ASSERT facility located on campus at University College Cork which is a short walk from the Cancer centre.
Equally it is expected that senior trainees support and assume leadership and training responsibilities with regard to our junior trainees.

Position held by the fellow during the traineeship: Position between resident and consultant.

The training consist of: The fellow is an active member of the team.

Legal requirements: The fellow must hold Irish Medical Council Registration on the General Register, and a work permit, if applicable.
Trainees must register with the RCSI Continuing Professional Development programme and maintain a learning portfolio, reaching the required points annually in order to renew their annual Medical Council Registration.

Maximum number of fellows in the Unit: 2

Optimal duration of the fellowship: 12 month period in total.

Open to both national and international candidates.

Ideal candidate: A senior breast oncology trainee approaching the end of their formalised training and suitable to occupy a position between resident and consultant.
