Overview
We are seeking a practical, customer-focused Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our busy tyre centre.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident working hands-on in the workshop while also providing leadership, customer service excellence, and operational support.
You will assist the Centre Manager in ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational & Hands-On Duties
Carry out tyre fitting, puncture repairs, wheel balancing, wheel alignment, and related workshop services.
Support and guide technicians during complex jobs or high-volume periods.
Maintain workshop equipment and ensure all tools are used safely and correctly.
Ensure the workshop is clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
Customer Service
Greet customers, assess vehicle needs, and provide accurate service advice.
Prepare quotes, explain recommendations, and ensure customers understand the work required.
Handle customer queries, complaints, and follow-ups professionally.
Ensure timely and high-quality service delivery to maintain excellent customer satisfaction.
Team Leadership
Assist in supervising and motivating the workshop team.
Help with staff training, coaching, and performance guidance.
Lead the centre in the manager's absence, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Administrative & Sales Support
Help manage stock levels, including tyre inventory and consumables.
Support with daily paperwork, job cards, invoicing, and system updates.
Upsell additional services where appropriate (alignment, brake checks, seasonal tyres, etc.).
Contribute to meeting sales targets and centre performance goals.
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience in a tyre fitting or automotive service environment desired.
Strong hands-on technical skills in tyre services and related workshop tasks.
Good understanding of health & safety procedures.
Excellent communication and customer-service abilities.
Experience supervising or mentoring team members (preferred).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
Full Irish driving license.
