Program Assistant – Camphill Community
Camphill Communities of Ireland are seeking a highly motivated Programme Assistant with experience in gardening to support the residential community and day service.
Job Purpose
To support service provision by developing and fostering a person‑centred culture and achieving high quality personal outcomes within the ethos of CCoI and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Understand and uphold Camphill values and ethos.
* Uphold safeguarding and protection policies for vulnerable adults and children.
* Promote safety, wellbeing and independent decision‑making for community members.
* Contribute to policy, systems and practice development and strategic vision.
* Build and maintain relationships of trust with adults with support needs, staff, volunteers and community partners.
* Work in accordance with Camphill policies, HIQA standards and company procedures.
* Engage in personal and professional development.
Main Tasks
* Assist in planning activities for adults with support needs, providing guidance, motivation and development.
* Create a positive working environment and group dynamic.
* Ensure participants are constructively engaged, emotionally supported and challenged.
* Work with individual plans and aims for each person.
* Sponsor supervision of tasks to support independent work.
* Attend reviews and support meetings with social care coordinators.
* Notify management of concerning behaviour.
* Attend meetings and negotiate holidays as required.
* Maintain health and safety regulations, including risk assessments for equipment.
* Ensure garden safety and manage production of seasonal produce.
* Prepare beds, sow seeds, prune, harvest, weed and water.
* Transplant trees and plants following the garden plan.
* Operate to produce vegetables and fruit to increase community self‑sufficiency.
* Keep the area clean, tidy and pleasant.
* Organise and supervise tea breaks.
* Maintain documentation for the garden.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
* QQI Level 5 Major Award in Community/Healthcare (8 completed modules).
* At least 1 year working with adults with intellectual disability/autism.
* Suitable vegetable production experience and knowledge of seasonal produce.
* Experience running programmes for adults with intellectual disability/autism.
* Understanding of the New Directions model of day support services.
* Willingness to promote the New Directions model within the role.
* Ability to coach, motivate and manage a mixed workforce of volunteers and employees.
* Full driver’s licence and ability to drive a vehicle with up to 8 passenger seats and 3,500 kg.

Details of the Role
* Salary Scale: €30,272–€36,026 per annum (35 h week, pro‑rata).
* Location: Camphill Community, Ballybay, Robb Farm, Corraskea, Ballybay Co. Monaghan A75 EO65.
* Duration: 35 hours per week.
