As part of the global organisation, Colas Ireland is primarily involved in the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion and emulsifier manufacturing, and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional, and local road network. In Ireland, Colas operates from 14 locations across the island of Ireland.
Mission
The role of Fleet and Transport Manager for Colas Contracting is suitable for an individual who can be accessible to all locations in Ireland and Northern Ireland, with responsibilities across multiple facilities. The position offers a wide scope for decision-making within the confines of agreed annual plans and budgets. The role will be responsible for all the company’s commercial vehicles, including cars, vans, trucks, trailers, and specialist vehicles, managing approximately thirty staff.
Main Responsibilities
Budget
* Responsible for preparing and planning the annual maintenance budget expenditure.
* Responsible for preparing and presenting Capex plans.
* Maintain an in-depth knowledge of planning OPEX (Operational Expenditure).
* Optimize fleet and transport costs by keeping capital and expenses to a minimum in line with the budget to maximize profit.
* Establish standard procedures for potential scenarios or problems.
* Analyze fleet data and suggest improvements for fleet tracking and data analytics.
* Deal with urgent and/or emergency repairs as required.
* Report to management on fleet progression, including budget, schedule, maintenance, and general progress.
Asset Management
* Conduct cost analysis using KPIs.
* Manage the fleet database.
* Maintain the insurance list.
* Ensure fleet compliance.
* Assign vehicles to drivers.
Maintenance
* Oversee all fleet maintenance functions, set standards for maintenance activities, and ensure maintenance facilities are capable and safe to manage the fleet.
* Manage garages to schedule maintenance to keep the fleet in top condition, including planned, unplanned, and predictive maintenance.
Profile
* Qualifications: Certificate in Professional Competence in Transport Management; Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor.
* Experience: Minimum of 3 years in fleet & transport management or a similar role.
* Knowledge of best practices in fleet management.
* Must be appointed in writing as a Transport Manager.
* Ideally hold ADR/DGSA certification.
