We are currently recruiting an experienced and dynamic Automation Process Engineer who will be based on site at our client's advanced technology manufacturing facility in Sligo, Ireland. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage execution of projects within our client's engineering group, carrying out and implementing equipment and process improvement initiatives as well as establishing department goals, schedules, and timetables for activities with the client's engineering manager.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure performance of preventative and demand maintenance to maintain manufacturing and utility equipment.
* Support management and development of manufacturing equipment.
* Evaluate and troubleshoot electro-mechanical issues, validate new processes, and develop technical documentation.
* ID areas of opportunity for new technology adoption.
* Design new equipment and stations.
* Sourcing of new equipment; supervise external contractors.
* Liaise with equipment vendors and transfer technical knowledge from other locations.
* Manage capital projects from inception to completion.
* Present project status to senior management; deliver technical training.
* Maintain manufacturing equipment.
* Prepare capital expenditure requests for facilities.
* Develop monthly engineering metrics.
* Ensure compliance with calibration requirements, PM on manufacturing equipment, and instrument/equipment calibration per schedule.
* ID and implement CIPs related to manufacturing equipment.
* Issue management reports, manage budgets within target.
* Cross-train within manufacturing engineering.
* Ensure safety standards met and safe working practices adhered to.
* Implement equipment/process upgrades in continuous improvement environment.
* Support the engineering team ensuring manufacturing equipment meets legal, division, and corporate standards.
* Manage internal and external plant projects; implement all personnel, quality, engineering, and safety policies.
* Negotiate cost/quality external contracts. Prepare CAPA plans and implement timelines.
* Develop new processes and complete validations.
* Conduct acceptance trials on new molds for sub-assembly equipment and introduce these into production.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the selected candidate reporting directly to the Automation Engineering Manager.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
* 3+ years of automation experience in medical device/pharma manufacturing environment.
* Experience in assembly automation trouble-shooting, new line introductions (NPI), and validation activities.
* Familiarity with ultrasonic welding of plastic parts advantageous.
* Strong analytical and communication skills.
* At least 3 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer.
