Role Purpose
The Maintenance Fitter will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical systems, plant, and equipment across the Client's facilities.
The role ensures operational reliability, safety, and efficiency of mechanical infrastructure supporting port operations, cargo handling equipment, and marine services.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems, including cranes, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pumps, and other port-related machinery.
Diagnose faults and perform repairs efficiently to minimize equipment downtime.
Assist in the installation, commissioning, and modification of new mechanical equipment and systems.
Conduct regular inspections and record maintenance activities in accordance with company and statutory requirements.
Ensure all work is carried out safely, complying with Client safety standards, environmental policies, and relevant legislation.
Collaborate with electrical and instrumentation teams on multidisciplinary maintenance and repair tasks.
Participate in on-call and shift rosters as required to support 24/7 port operations.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and report maintenance trends or recurring issues.
Maintain accurate records and documentation using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
National Craft Certificate (NCC) or equivalent qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.
Minimum 3 years' post-apprenticeship experience in an industrial, marine, or heavy engineering environment.
Proven experience in fault-finding, repair, and maintenance of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Strong understanding of mechanical safety and preventive maintenance principles.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
Desirable:
Experience working in a port, shipping, or logistics environment.
Familiarity with cranes, lifting equipment, and cargo-handling systems.
Knowledge of CMMS systems and basic IT proficiency.
Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
MEWP or forklift licence advantageous.

Primarily based at the Client facilities (Tivoli, Ringaskiddy, and other operational sites as required).
