Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will deliver comprehensive care within the Breast Family History Service and Symptomatic Breast Service, working in partnership with established Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Key Responsibilities
Manage an agreed caseload of patients across all breast service pathways (family history, symptomatic, triple assessment, and cancer follow-up clinics).
Provide direct and indirect clinical care, including assessment and ongoing management.
Advocate for patients and facilitate access to services.
Deliver education and training to patients and staff.
Conduct audit and research activities to support service improvement.
Provide clinical consultancy, including leadership in clinical practice.
Coordinate inpatient and outpatient care for breast service patients.
Clinical Focus
Direct and indirect care of adult patients aged 16 and over.
Patient education and advocacy.
Audit and research engagement.
Clinical leadership and consultancy.
Collaboration & Supervision
The CNS operates under the supervision of a designated mentor and collaborates closely with the MDT, ANPs, and breast service clinical teams.
