As General Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and strategic direction of the business. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational skills, a passion for hospitality, team motivation, and a sharp focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences. You'll lead a team and be a visible, approachable presence on the floor.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all bar and café operations, ensuring efficient service, high standards, and regulatory compliance.
* Lead and manage our small but committed team.
* Drive revenue and profitability through strong financial controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
* Create and maintain a positive team culture through training, development, and performance management.
* Drive events, seasonal campaigns, and brand visibility.
* Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and food hygiene standards.
* Manage supplier relationships, stock control, and purchasing.
* Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction.
* Monitor and analyze sales trends and performance metrics, making data-driven decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in a similar hospitality role, ideally in a bar or gastropub.
* Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage our small team.
* Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations, particularly in Irish bar culture.
* Financially savvy with experience in budget control, stock management, and P&L responsibility.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
* A flexible, can-do attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Familiarity with systems, scheduling software, and other hospitality tools.
Desirable Skills
* A passion hospitality.
* Knowledge of Galway's tourism and nightlife scene.
* Event planning or entertainment experience.
