Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Electrical Power Systems Engineer to lead and deliver complex high-voltage substation, power distribution, and grid integration projects across the EU. This role ensures technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and seamless collaboration with Transmission System Operators (TSOs). The successful candidate will provide expert leadership in design and commissioning and possess strong knowledge of EU grid codes and legislation.
Role and Responsibilities
• Lead and review the design of high-voltage substations and offsite electrical distribution systems.
• Ensure compliance with EU grid codes and national transmission operator requirements.
• Provide technical oversight and guidance to specialist Design & Build contractors.
• Conduct and validate detailed power system studies, including:
o Load flow analysis
o Short circuit analysis
o Harmonic analysis
o Transient stability studies
o Dynamic and static modelling
• Develop and implement active/reactive power control strategies.
• Oversee the detailed design, construction, and commissioning phases of power infrastructure projects.
• Interface directly with TSOs and regulatory bodies to ensure grid code compliance.
• Support project teams with technical documentation, risk assessments, and design reviews.
• Stay current with evolving EU legislation and standards related to power systems.
Qualifications & Experience:

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
* Minimum of 10 years' experience in:
o High-voltage (HV/MV) substation design
o Offsite power distribution systems
o Power quality and control systems
o Grid integration and compliance
* Proven expertise in:
o Detailed electrical design and engineering
o Construction and commissioning of power systems
o Working with TSOs and regulatory authorities
* Strong working knowledge of:
o EU grid codes and compliance processes
o Power system modelling tools (e.g., DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, ETAP)
o Active/reactive power control and power quality standards
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to lead technical discussions and resolve complex engineering challenges.
Preferred Attributes
* Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.
* Experience in renewable energy integration and hybrid power systems.
* Familiarity with digital substations and IEC 61850 standards.
* Multinational project experience across the EU.
