Project Coral represents a significant ICT transformation programme within Beaumont Hospital introducing the Orbis Order Comms solution, IPM, and Orbis ED systems to streamline patient flow, clinical documentation, and operational management. These systems, combined with data from HR, Finance, and other operational sources, provide a robust foundation for patient-centred, data-driven care.
The Data & Reporting Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of hospital-wide data and reporting initiatives. Working closely with the Data & Analytics Lead, Reporting Engineers, and informatics team, the post holder ensures that reporting outputs are specified, developed, validated, and tested to meet clinical, operational, and management needs. This role ensures high-quality, accurate, and actionable data is available for decision making across Beaumont Hospital.
Job Purpose
To support the delivery of hospital-wide data reporting programmes by translating requirements into specifications, validating and testing reports, and ensuring quality and accuracy of analytics. The post holder will:
* Prepare specifications for reporting and analytics solutions.
* Validate and test data outputs from Orbis, IPM, Orbis ED, HR, Finance, and other operational systems.
* Assist in the production of reports, dashboards, and data visualisations using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
* Collaborate with clinical, operational, and management teams to ensure reporting meets user needs.

Responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Specification and Requirements Gathering
* Gather and document user requirements for reports, dashboards, and data analytics outputs.
* Develop functional specifications to guide the development of reporting solutions.
* Work with clinical, operational, and management teams to ensure specifications accurately reflect needs.
2. Report Development and Validation
* Support the creation of reports and dashboards using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
* Validate data outputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all sources.
* Test reports against specifications and clinical or operational workflows.
3. Testing and Quality Assurance
* Conduct rigorous testing of reporting solutions before release to users.
* Document test cases, results, and issue resolutions.
* Collaborate with the configuration and reporting teams to resolve errors or inconsistencies.
4. User Support and Engagement
* Assist hospital staff in understanding and using reports and dashboards effectively.
* Provide guidance on interpretation of data and best practice for analytics.
* Support hospital-wide engagement in data reporting and analytics initiatives.
5. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
* Work closely with the Data & Analytics Lead to ensure alignment with overall data architecture and governance.
* Liaise with Reporting Engineers, configuration, and operational teams to ensure data integrity and usability.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of specifications, validations, and testing results.

Mandatory:
Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
(i) Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutoryhealth agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section38 of the Health Act 2004.
Or
(ii) Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of subjectsin the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, includingMathematics and English or Irish1. Candidates should have obtained at least Grade Con higher level papers in three subjects in that examination.
Or
(iii) Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalentexamination in another jurisdiction
Or
(iv) Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on theNational Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland,(QQI).
Note1
Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in afoundation level paper is not acceptable.Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Establishedprogramme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme.The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.

(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the office.
6. AgeAge restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
7. HealthCandidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable ofundertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Desirable
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree or diploma in data analytics, healthcare informatics, computer science, or related discipline.
* Experience in reporting, data validation, testing, or business intelligence.
* Familiarity with healthcare information systems such as Orbis, IPM, Orbis ED, and operational systems such as HR and Finance desirable.
* Knowledge of Power BI and Microsoft Fabric reporting platforms advantageous.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality reporting outputs.
