Senior Electrical Engineer - Substation Design (Ireland)

We are recruiting Client Engineers to join our growing Transmission & Distribution team based in the Republic of Ireland. The opportunity arises from a new multi‑year framework with EirGrid. The role involves providing technical services on projects from development to construction.
Responsibilities
Develop primary plant layouts for HV substations.
Create equipment specifications for HV plant and associated equipment.
Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
Serve as a Client Engineer / Owner’s Engineer on HV substation, cable, and OHL projects.
Deliver HV design input to renewable energy projects (battery storage, solar, hydro, wind).
Provide professional services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas.
Qualifications
A degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience working on HV projects.
Experience with major utilities or developers.
Experience as a Designer or Project Engineer.
Experience developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS, and AIS switchgear.
Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects.
Fluency in English.
Full driving licence with access to a car (site visits required).
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience on multi‑discipline engineering projects.
Chartered accreditation or progress toward status.
Consultancy experience.
Experience reviewing detailed designs and witnessing construction site activities.
Transferable skills for key competency areas if lacking specific HV experience.
