Job Title: SQL Database Administrator
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join our public sector client's team. This is an initial 12-month contract with possible extensions.
The successful candidate will work remotely, but must be available to attend client sites when required.
This is a 35-hour per week role, and you will be employed as an agency employee.
Services Provided by DBA
* Troubleshooting/Support - DBA Support, DBA Alerts, Daily Monitoring of Database Estate, Security, SQL Server Security, Best Practice Installation and Maintenance
* New Builds, Upgrades and Migrations, Database Backup and Recovery
Responsibilities
* Support clients in managing the SQL database estate for Fingerprint Track n Trace Infrastructure Upgrade
* Contribute to and assist in migrating databases from out-of-support servers
* Maintain and administer database security access
* Perform ad-hoc database backups and restores
* Troubleshoot and resolve database connectivity issues
* Install, upgrade, migrate, and configure SQL Servers
Deliverables
* Health check assessments of the SQL database estate in regions, including identification of SQL Servers/Databases and documentation of configurations, version, dependencies, and availability of backups
* Testing of ability to restore from backups and analysis of storage and configuration requirements
* Migration to new locations on National Data Centres, including configuration of new SQL Servers & SQL Server Instances, application of latest patches/update, and transfer of databases
* Post-migration tasks, including continuous monitoring and updating of relevant documentation, and decommissioning of redundant SQL Servers
Projects for the Coming 12 Months
Fingerprint Track n Trace Infrastructure Upgrade - Providing database support for upgrades and assessments, providing advice and support to project stakeholders, and delivering status reports on database aspects of the project
