Job Summary
NetApp is seeking a Senior TechOps Engineer to join our growing Instaclustr team in Europe. Instaclustr delivers open‑source as‑a‑service, managing cutting‑edge technologies such as Cassandra, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis/Valkey, OpenSearch, ClickHouse, and Cadence for customers worldwide.
Role Overview
As a Technical Operations Engineer (Kafka), you will be part of the frontline team that keeps our large fleet of cloud‑hosted Kafka clusters running reliably. Your daily work includes diagnosing and resolving technical problems, participating in on‑call rotations, and developing automation tools to improve our service.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert operational support for nodes in AWS, Azure, and GCP using Linux, Docker, Java, Python, and Bash.
Collaborate with customer engineers to resolve intricate Kafka issues.
Participate in Level 1 or Level 2 on‑call rosters.
Perform cluster operations such as migrations, upgrades, and maintenance.
Develop and continually improve internal automation tools, applications, and processes.
Qualifications & Skills
EU citizenship only.
Strong experience with Kafka, including issue investigation and upgrades/migration.
Proficiency in one public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Solid computer science fundamentals: OS internals, memory management, networking.
Strong Linux command‑line skills.
Excellent written and verbal English communication.
Preferably past IT customer service/support experience.
Team player with initiative and ability to follow processes.
Programming skills in Python or Java; Git experience is a plus.

Salary will be based on location, qualifications, experience, and education.
