Admission CNM2 (Bed Management Unit) Full time/Part time (37.5 hours per week), Permanent Contract. The Admission Clinical Nurse Manager 2(CNM2) will report to the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) - Bed Management and is accountable to the Director of Nursing, Mercy University Hospital (MUH). Purpose of the Role The Admission CNM2 will play a pivotal role in ensuring the clinical and operational effectiveness of acute patient pathways in MUH.A key focus of the role is the management of admission, transfer and discharge processes within MUH. The Admission CNM2 will liaise with Ward Managers, Divisional leads, Patient Flow ADON (Emergency Department), Consultants and other members of the multidisciplinary team, Executive Management Board, HSE South West to streamline treatment and discharge processes. Responsibilities include: Ensure effective streaming of patients through Inpatient wards, between hospital departments and across community services. Liaise and communicate regularly with the Emergency Department, Ward CNM2s, Patient Flow CNM2s and Discharge Co-Ordinators in relation to the bed availability. Work with Emergency Department (ED) Patient Flow ADON to ensure timely transfer of patients from ED. Collaborate and communicate with patients and families to deliver care consistent with best evidence based practice. Ensure the patient is actively participating in the decision making of their care with all appropriate team members if the patient requires clarification regarding disease process, treatment options, or plan of care. Provide professional nursing leadership and act as a resource to nursing and multidisciplinary teams regarding admission and discharge planning. Carry out their duties and responsibilities in compliance with the Health and Safety Policies and Statutory Regulations. Assist in the development of the management skills of staff. Motivate team members by agreeing goals and objectives. Promote patient and family health promotion initiatives. Eligibility Criteria: Be registered in the General Division of the Live Register of Nurses by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Have a proven track record in general nurse management at CNM1/CNM2 level or above. Have at least 5 years post registration recent experience in the acute hospital setting and 2 years experience in the related area. Have computer and analytical skills. Management course desirable. Post registration qualification in Nursing and or Management desirable. Demonstrate continuous professional development. Closing date for applications is 1pm on Friday, 28 November 2025.
