Overview
The HSE has created six new health regions, each responsible for providing hospital and community care for its local population. This integrated approach aims to deliver more patient-centered healthcare services.
HSE Dublin and North East provides health and social care to North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, and most areas of Cavan.
The hospitals included in this region are:

Cavan & Monaghan Hospital
Cavan & Monaghan Hospital serves populations from both counties and extends its catchment to Meath, Longford, and Leitrim. It offers extensive outpatient, theatre, and day services, along with support services such as pathology, radiology, pharmacy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.
The hospital is bi-located, with 421 beds (286 acute inpatient beds). It handles approximately 17,000 acute admissions annually. The primary role includes continuing care for discharged patients needing inpatient step-down and rehabilitation care. It is a teaching hospital affiliated with the Royal College of Surgeons, Royal College of Physicians, and Dundalk Institute of Technology, and actively meets HIQA standards.
Facilities include an Emergency Department, Acute Medical Admissions Unit, multiple wards, surgical assessment units, maternity, paediatric wards, ICU, SCBU, CCU, operating theatres, dialysis, endoscopy, haematology/oncology wards, and interventional radiology. Visiting specialists provide orthopaedic, vascular, urological, and neurological services. The hospital also offers specialized care for paediatric and adult cystic fibrosis patients, with recent upgrades to the paediatric ward.

Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
This position is under the Public Only Consultants’ Contract 2023 with the HSE Dublin & North East Region. The initial commitment will be 31 hours per week at Cavan Hospital and 6 hours per week at Rotunda Hospital.
Applicants must be registered in the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in obstetrics and gynaecology.
