OverviewWe are recruiting an Applications Engineer to join a specialist engineering manufacturer delivering bespoke air management and cooling solutions for commercial, industrial, and data-led environments. This role sits at the intersection of engineering design, technical sales support, and project delivery, supporting clients with engineered solutions tailored to each application. Products are not off-the-shelf – every system is designed and applied on a project-by-project basis.The RoleAs an Applications Engineer, you will act as the technical link between customers, sales, and engineering teams. You’ll assess client requirements, develop compliant and efficient technical solutions, and support projects from enquiry through to order and delivery. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, customer engagement, and applied engineering, with long-term progression into senior technical or commercial roles.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Applications & Design: Analyse client requirements and system specifications to develop appropriate engineered solutionsSize and select air management, cooling, and ventilation systems for specific applicationsProduce technical proposals, performance calculations, layouts, and supporting documentationEnsure solutions meet regulatory, performance, and efficiency requirementsClient & Sales Support: Act as a technical point of contact for customers, consultants, and internal sales teamsSupport pre-sales activity with technical input, value engineering, and solution optimisationRespond to technical queries and provide clear, professional adviceProject & Engineering Coordination: Liaise with internal design, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure solutions are deliverableSupport order handover, ensuring all technical details are clearly definedAssist with troubleshooting and technical clarification during delivery where requiredAbout YouQualifications & ExperienceDegree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related disciplineExperience in an applications engineering, technical sales, or design support roleBackground in HVAC, ventilation, cooling, or air handling systems preferredComfortable interpreting drawings, specifications, and performance dataSkills & AttributesStrong technical and analytical ability with attention to detailConfident communicator, able to explain technical concepts clearlyCommercially aware and solutions-focusedProactive, adaptable, and keen to develop long-term within a businessPackageSalary €50,000 – €80,000 depending on experience21 days holiday plus bank holidays7.5% pensionClear career progression within a growing engineering organisationExposure to complex, non-standard engineered solutionsSupportive technical environment with ongoing development
