Job Description:
We are seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Health & Safety Technical Lead, responsible for ensuring compliance with national, European, and organisational health, safety, quality, environmental, and energy standards across our diverse organisation.
The successful candidate will play a central role in driving continuous improvement programmes, supporting the rollout of a robust Safety Management System at a national level, and strengthening a safety-centred culture. Main Responsibilities:
1. Support the deployment and execution of our HSQE strategy across the organisation.
2. Lead and deliver company-wide HSQE initiatives, projects, and programmes focused on improving the Safety Management System.
3. Coordinate action plans in response to HSQE non-compliances identified across business units; collaborate with Regional Health & Safety Managers and teams to address them.
4. Collect, analyse, and report HSQE performance data (KPIs, trends, incident/near-miss data) for senior stakeholders.
5. Support governance of safety frameworks, safety culture, leadership, and safety coach forums.
6. Provide specialist health & safety advice to functional areas; ensure relevant policies, procedures, and practices are implemented and embedded.
7. Identify role-level and function-level HSQE needs in collaboration with business stakeholders; anticipate how future changes might impact those needs.
8. Oversee accident/incident reporting and investigations; ensure induction, training, and policies are correctly applied.
9. Maintain awareness of legislative and regulatory requirements and best practice in HSQE; ensure business compliance and readiness for audits.
10. Lead, motivate, and develop Health & Safety Advisors and Coordinators; set objectives, monitor performance, and foster continuous improvement.
Requirements:
* A relevant third-level qualification in health & safety, environmental science, engineering, or a similarly related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).
* At least 5 years' experience in a health & safety / HSQE role, ideally within utility, water, or related sectors.
* Experience in people management, including coaching, performance management, conflict resolution, and leading change.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, propose solutions, and deliver outcomes.
* Flexible and adaptable, capable of adjusting focus in line with business needs and regulatory developments.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
