Role Summary
The primary purpose of this role is to support the financial requirements of programmes in the Migration department and ensure a full verifiable audit trail for all vouched expenditure.
Responsibilities
Undertake financial processing, validation, coding, and monitoring of inbound invoices and payments within agreed payment terms.
Budget management and reconciliation of the programme’s finances.
Data management, analysis, and preparation of routine, periodic, and exceptional reports as required by management and stakeholders.
Financial processing and recording of expenses and payment requests related to the programme team.
Ensure that all documentation is in line with organisational financial procedures and provides an effective audit trail to identify all project income and expenditure claimed from the Department.
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions in the system (e.g., Soldo, iPlicit).
Prepare financial transaction reports as requested by finance and migration team management.
Organise and ensure availability of all supporting documentation required for the project’s financial reports.
Prepare procurement documentation as needed, ensuring relevant documentation confirming procurement of services for the project complies with organisational, donor and national procurement requirements.
Support with preparation and verification of time-sheets, in line with funding streams, with relevant team members.
Draft financial reports and statements on project expenditure against the project budget on a quarterly basis, including annual financial statements.
Support project management staff with desk‑based and on‑site verifications regarding payment claims and operations.
Assist project management staff in ensuring financial documentation complies with donor requirements and is processed in a timely manner.
Work actively towards the achievement of the Irish Red Cross goals.
Undertake training and development as required.
Abide by and uphold the Principles of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
Undertake any other reasonable work‑related duties and responsibilities assigned by the line manager that are consistent with the nature of the job and level of responsibility.
Essential Criteria
Proven knowledge of accounting and payroll.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar financial role.
Experience managing multiple cost centres.
Excellent attention to detail.
Highly organised, reliable, and methodical in work.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Excellent organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes, particularly Excel.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and protect information and materials.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Demonstrated experience in financial/business administration.
Desirable Criteria
Experience with EU Commission Grants; preferably AMIF.
Experience with and/or knowledge of EU procurement rules and Public Procurement Regulations and relevant procedures.
Knowledge of the work of the Irish Red Cross.

This role will support the finances for the Irish Red Cross 4AMIF44 project, co‑funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union. The project focuses on mental health, English language, employment skills and family reunification for Third Country Nationals in Ireland under the EU Commission’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021‑2027.
