Excel Recruitment are recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist on behalf of a HSE Community Mental Health team, who provide vital services to a population of over 300,000 people across four Community Mental Health Teams located in Tallaght, Ballyfermot, Crumlin, and Clondalkin.
These expert teams deliver a range of specialist and recovery-focused services, including:
1. Adult ADHD Team
2. Eating Disorders Team
3. Rehabilitation Team
4. Specialist Psychosis Unit
5. General Adult Community Mental Health Teams
We are now seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join this dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary service, making a real impact in the lives of adults with complex mental health needs in the community.
Role Purpose
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention as part of a multidisciplinary Community Mental Health Team.
You will have the opportunity to lead on service development initiatives, supervise junior staff, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Occupational Therapy service within the community setting. You will work with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses, and other allied professionals in a recovery-oriented environment that values teamwork, innovation, and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
6. Provide comprehensive OT assessments and evidence-based interventions to adults in an acute mental health setting.
7. Be responsible for managing own caseload and for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes for service users according to service standards
8. Be responsible for the day-to-day running of a designated service area(s) by supervising staff, prioritising and allocating work and promoting positive staff morale and team working in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager
9. In conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager lead service planning by anticipating the changing needs of the service and service users
10. Supervise and support a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist and/or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
11. Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the OT service within the approved centre.
12. Promote quality by reviewing and evaluating the Occupational Therapy service regularly, identifying changing needs and opportunities to improve services, in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist Manager and relevant others.
13. Develop and implement service / business plans, quality initiatives, audits etc. and report on outcomes in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist Manager.
14. Maintain service delivery in line with HSE standards, policies, and regulations.
15. Engage in service meetings, care planning, and multidisciplinary case discussions.
16. Operate within the scope of Occupational Therapy practice within Ireland and in accordance with local guidelines
Essential Requirements:
17. BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
18. CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
19. Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience as an OT.
20. Previous experience in mental health desirable.
21. A collaborative, recovery-oriented, and person-centred approach.
22. Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
23. HSE mandatory training (or willingness to complete before starting).
