Applications are invited for the position of: Physician Associate (RCC) This role is on a permanent, full time basis working 37.5 hours per week Blackrock Health Galway Clinic are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and suitably qualified Physician Associate to join our team to work in our Rapid Cardiac Assessment Clinic. Primary Duties will be inclusive of the following but not limited to: Provide medical care/Assessment to patients in Blackrock Health Galway Clinic under the guidance of the Consultant responsible for the care of that patient. In most circumstances these will be in the RCC (Rapid Cardiac Assessment Clinic) This care may require to be provided at a variety of locations in the Clinic based on emergency situations which arise outside of the Department. Liaise with the relevant Consultants, RMO and CNM2 in charge with respect to upcoming duties or patients requiring assessment. The RCC PA will be responsible for the prompt assessment of patients who present through the RCC pathway in the ED. The PA will be responsible for assessment of the patient using a focused assessment and documenting this note on the electronic MEDITECH. The assessment must include a detailed list of medications which have been reconciled with the patient. Following assessment of the patient the RCC PA will be required to perform/order ECGs and complete venepuncture and or IVC insertion. For stable patients the RCC PA will communicate with the Cardiologist on-call once all results are back. For any patients who are unstable or requiring immediate treatment the RCC PA will contact the Cardiologist on-call immediately relaying pertinent information regarding patient assessment and status. If the Cardiologist on-call is not available the RCC PA should contact the relevant Consultant on-call or the relevant RMO for assistance. Facilitate admissions, transfers to cath lab and discharges from service or to consultant outpatient within a timely manner Provides patient and family with pre-diagnostic /pre-procedure and other pertinent education, including recovery and risk factor modification; The RCC PA will also be expected to work with the relevant consultants, aiding with ordering bloods, ordering scans, performing medication reconciliation, assisting in procedures performed in the department, pre assessment of patients for consultants followed by presentation of patients to them, venepuncture, IVC insertion, Catheter insertion, ABG sampling and processing. This list is not exhaustive and can be amended in the future in line with reasonable expectations by department. Based upon specific specialty, additional duties may be required. The RCC PA will be responsible for medication reconciliation for all potential admission patients/admitted patients.
