As a Revenue Accountant within Bus Éireann, you will play a key role in the analysis, reporting and control of passenger revenue across the organisation, with a particular focus on Expressway services. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness and integrity of revenue reporting through detailed analysis of ticketing, fare and passenger data across multiple systems.
Working closely with Finance and operational stakeholders, you will investigate revenue movements, identify variances and support revenue optimisation through insightful analysis of key performance metrics.
The role requires a strong understanding of financial systems, particularly SAP and associated ticketing interfaces, along with the ability to interpret complex data sets and ensure accurate period reporting, forecasting and journal preparation in a fast-paced environment.
This is a 2 year contract position and will be based in Bus Éireann's Broadstone head office in Dublin.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and deliver periodic road passenger revenue reports for Expressway services.
Analyse Expressway revenue performance in detail, including breakdown by trip, kilometres, product type and ticket type.
Analyse complex revenue data to identify, explain and report on trends, movements and variances.
Analyse passenger yields with a focus on maximising revenue across existing services and supporting optimisation of new services.
Ensure accurate inclusion and reconciliation of DSP-related revenue within each reporting period.
Manage and understand the uplift process for DSP and non-DSP ticket passenger data, ensuring accuracy in reporting.
Work closely with internal stakeholders during ticket classification, fare or product changes to ensure financial accuracy is maintained.
Prepare and post all period-end revenue journals in line with accounting standards and reporting requirements.
Perform SAP-based periodic reporting, including extraction, validation and analysis of revenue data.
Produce revenue reporting packs for key internal stakeholders and Finance management.
Support Finance Management with revenue-related budgeting, forecasting and forward planning activities.
Liaise with internal stakeholders as required, including supporting meeting preparation and coordination.
Provide SAP data analysis and reporting support as part of periodic cycles and ad hoc requests.
Support the Finance Business Operations Cluster team with ad hoc analysis, reporting and administrative duties as required.
Ensure revenue processes maintain accuracy, completeness and compliance across all reporting periods.
KEY SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Strong experience in revenue accounting, financial reporting or large-scale data analysis within a complex environment.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and explain trends, movements and variances.
Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and financial controls.
Advanced SAP knowledge, particularly in relation to reporting, journals and financial system integration.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and confident working with complex data sets and reporting models.
Strong understanding of ticketing, fare structures and revenue systems (or ability to quickly develop this knowledge).
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial insights clearly to non finance stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
