Job Description Summary
As the EHS Specialist, you'll be responsible for protecting people, assets, and operations by applying structured safety and environmental practices to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective control measures. The role supports embedding safety into daily operations, projects, and processes while ensuring compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements and driving continuous improvement in EHS performance.
Responsibilities
Conduct risk assessments and implement effective hazard control measures using practical and engineering solutions
Provide day-to-day EHS support across operations, quality, warehousing, and construction activities
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental legislation, permits, and standards
Support safe systems of work, including permit-to-work and high-risk activities
Contribute to the development and maintenance of EHS and Environmental Management Systems (ISO standards)
Monitor environmental aspects such as emissions, wastewater, waste management, and resource use
Participate in incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions
Conduct EHS inspections, audits, and track performance metrics to drive improvement
Deliver EHS training and promote a strong safety and environmental culture
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS into operations and projects
Qualifications and Requirements
Third level qualification (minimum NFQ 8) in EHS, Engineering, or Science discipline or equivalent
Strong experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Knowledge of risk assessments and EHS management systems
Experience supporting regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives
Familiarity with regulatory bodies (e.g., HSA, EPA, local authorities)
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
