Clinical Nurse Specialist Role
The role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist involves delivering high-quality nursing care and developing services to meet the needs of service users.
* Key responsibilities include working as a key worker for particular cases, providing high-quality nursing care, and developing services to meet the needs of service users.
* The CNS will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating care to service users, families, and carers.
* The role requires strong communication skills, ability to practice safely and effectively, and demonstration of continuing professional development relevant to the specialist area.
Key qualifications and skills:
* Statutory registration as a nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais and Cnimhseachais na hireann (NMBI).
* A minimum of 5 years' post-registration full-time experience.
* A minimum of 2 years' experience working in the area of disability.
* Experience in the specialist area of children's care is desirable.
* Successful completion of a post-registration programme of study or provision of written evidence from the Higher Education Institute.
* Continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area.
