PEGlobalis currently recruiting for a Senior Environmental Specialist for a leading multi-national Pharma client based in South Dublin.
This is a contract position.
Role
The Senior Specialist Environmental EHSS supports the Environmental Manager in implementing and monitoring environmental management systems.
They assist with regulatory communications and sustainability programmes.
Responsibilities include preparing reports, providing input in the EMS, providing support on environmental programs, assisting with compliance, performing audits, and supporting incident investigations.
As required by the Environmental Manager, they also prepare environmental documentation and support sustainability initiatives, CSR activities, and EHS programs.
Responsibilities
Support the Environmental Manager to implement, maintain and monitor environmental management systems and programmes, that protect the environment, contribute to sustainable development and build success over the long term.
Provide environmental expertise, technical advice and in the field, including our projects, manufacturing and engineering departments as required.
Support the Environmental Manager in gathering information and preparing reports for engagement with environmental regulators.
Support the Environmental Manager in preparing environmental and sustainability reporting to ensure all regulatory and corporate requirements are met.
Participate and show leadership in environmental programmes across the site.
Ensure personnel are aware of their responsibilities with respect to environmental controls and reporting, providing support in the preparation of training as required.
Assist relevant service providers in operating environmental compliance systems in full compliance of regulatory and corporate requirements.
Support the Environmental Manager in the execution of environmental audits and inspections both internal and external.
Lead by example and role model good safety behaviour and environmental practices to develop and support a high performing EHSculture on site.
Support the investigation of environmental incidents, participating in multi-departmental meetings, drafting investigation reports and coordinating the completion of corrective actions.
Support the Environmental Manager on environmental/sustainability initiatives and communications e.g. promotion of biodiversity programme, Re-Turn Scheme and Go-Green.
Participate in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) engagement team including the coordination of off-site environmental events e.g. community cleanups etc.
Challenge the status quo and bring new approaches to continuously improve the effectiveness of workflows and processes (learn and apply new concepts).
Work within the EHS dept to support EHS programmes and systems as required.
Requirements
ABSc / MSc in Environmental Science or equivalent.
2-4 years environmental experience is required, with specific experience working in a biologics / biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility preferred.
Industrial Emissions License / GHG Permit and other Regulatory experience is an advantage.
Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with incidents and/or learning system database (e.g. Intelex, SuccessFactors, etc.) preferred.
Previous experience related to the EHSS Irish and European regulations (EPA, HSA, Irish Water) preferred.
Ability to take initiative and adapt to frequently changing priorities simultaneously and think creatively, critically, and strategically to solve problems in a complex environment with urgency, agility, and calm.
Prioritises work and thinks independently, analyses and solves complex problems with excellent judgement, quality and detail in an urgent manner.
Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset that takes a proactive, solution-oriented approach to identifying issues and developing innovative and effective solutions to improve operations.
Strong decision-making capability to guide assigned projects to successful conclusions.
Experience handling confidential information and sensitive issues in a diplomatic manner to ensure integrity and confidentiality.
Excellent transparent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with a proclivity for partnership and collaboration with peers, all levels of management, cross-functional teams at site and EHS/S above-site teams.
