SUPPORT WORKERS
(50 HOURS PER FORTNIGHT)
The focus of this role will be to support an individual to realise their vision to leading a good life through person centred approaches in line with personal interests, skills, will and preference. We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic, creative and energetic Social Care Workers and Support Workers to support individuals with an intellectual disability to realise their vision for a good life. The role will lead initiatives in helping individuals to live a life of their choosing, become connected and valued within their local community, and provide opportunities for new experiences. The aim is to support each person in developing real and authentic relationships. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record in supporting individuals to develop valued social roles, experience in supporting individuals with communication needs and those who may display behaviours of concern, and experience with person centred planning and knowledge of person directed and individualized support approaches.

Essential requirements / qualities of applicant
* Relevant recognised Diploma in Social Care / Applied Social Studies in Social Care / Social Care Practice (minimum Level 7 on National Framework of Qualifications) which are CORU approved. Please note Social Care candidates must be registered with or in the process of registering with CORU. Relevant QQI HSE Approved Level 5 Qualification or willingness to undertake a relevant QQI Level 5 Major Award.
* Knowledge of HIQA Standards.
* A valid licence to drive a manual vehicle in Ireland.
* Experience of supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is highly desirable.
* Interest in horticulture and outdoor activities an advantage.
* Excellent organisational, logistical and IT skills an advantage.
* Supportive, dependable team player;
* Experience in and commitment to supporting individuals to connect with their local community;
* Self-Awareness;
* Suitability as outlined in the introduction to the role.
Please note that the successful candidates will be required to be available for any of day, weekend, waking night duty and sleep-over / overnight shifts. We also require staff members to be willing to work alone in the residents’ homes and across a variety of locations if required.
