What is the opportunity?
This is a unique opportunity within Corporate & Commercial Banking to contribute to the development of the SE&I business which has been identified as a key growth segment for the Bank. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the Bank's project finance lending activities in renewable energy and infrastructure, both domestically and internationally.
The role is an exciting opportunity for a senior project finance banker to join a growing team and be at the forefront of the energy transition and the development of critical infrastructure in the Irish, UK and European markets.
In This Role, You Will
* Attract and execute new transaction opportunities and enhance relationships with both new and existing customers
* Originate lending opportunities within the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors
* Support the development of an Originate-to-Distribute model and find opportunities to maximise value for the Bank through this strategy
* Be the lead point of contact for new transactions from deal origination through the credit process, due diligence and documentation phase to financial close
* Network with project sponsors, key intermediaries, institutions, private equity and any other market players
* Develop quality and collaborative relationships with both internal & external clients and partners and ensure appropriate external profiling of Bank of Ireland's product offering
* Communicate effectively the business strategy, vision, values and objectives
* Lead, develop and motivate an engaged and driven team, at all times ensuring the team is appropriately resourced with the optimum skill-set and capability to reflect the diverse nature of the business
* Ensure that the SE&I division generates an acceptable return on capital
* Contribute to significant Business and Cross-functional Group projects, initiatives and committees, as required
* Ensure the highest credit standards are met within the team/new business applications while having a hands-on approach to Operational Risk

Essential experience and skills in the following is preferred;
* Significant financial and commercial lending experience in an origination role
* Strong business/commercial savvy with thorough knowledge of project finance products and markets
* Decisive with a high degree of personal credibility
* Capacity to build & maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers, third party introducers
* Ability to lead and motivate more junior members of the team including handling multiple and at times competing tasks under time constraints
* Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing skills.

More About The Team
The Specialist Banking division within Corporate & Commercial Banking comprises Leveraged Finance, Property Finance and SE&I.
The SE&I business finances the construction and operation/maintenance of a range of projects including on-shore wind, off-shore wind, solar farms and infrastructure projects in the transport/ education/ healthcare/ housing/ digital sectors in Ireland, the UK and Europe.
This is a hybrid role, we typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in-person to support teamwork and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
