Hospital Sterile Services Dept (HSSD/CSSD) Operative (Endoscopy) Permanent & Temporary Contracts Panel, Full Time Hours. The HSSD/CSSD Operative will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 or designated officer and is accountable to the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) for Decontamination. Responsibilities include: Organise workload to ensure services and processes are maintained and correct standards are adhered to at all times in accordance with HSE Standards and Recommended Practices for Decontamination, and adhere to both HIQA and JAG guidelines and standards. Have a working knowledge and comply with implementing Health Service Executive, (HSE) (2018), Standards and Recommended Practices for commissioning Validation and Testing in Endoscopes Decontamination Facilities, Recommended Practices for Endoscope Reprocessing Units, Health Service Executive (2012) and Standards and Recommended Practices for Central Decontamination Units (HSE 2011). Rotate throughout each area of the Decontamination Unit in the Endoscopy Department, from the Dirty Room, Clean Room and to the Endoscopy Procedure Rooms. Participate in an On-call Service to process and decontaminate the endoscopes utilised out of hours, at the weekend (including bank/public holidays), and during scheduled or unscheduled closures of the Endoscopy Department. Evaluate and manage the implementation of best practice policies and procedures, and control in usage of stock and equipment in the area assigned. Ensure all plant and maintenance, and equipment maintenance and testing is carried out in accordance with requirements. Maintain appropriate records and take appropriate action if systems fail. Have a working knowledge of HIQA standards as they apply to the role/care setting, e.g. Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene standards, etc. Eligibility Criteria - Candidates must have: Acute hospital/healthcare setting experience. Experience in Decontamination and/or CSSD / HSSD. A Certificate in Endoscope Decontamination and/or Certificate in Reusable Invasive Medical Device Decontamination or a willingness to undertake same.
