Web Developer and Designer
We are seeking a creative and dynamic Web Developer and Designer who will play a key role in driving brand awareness and donations online by telling our stories
Main responsibilities include;
Creative Web Development, Design and Maintenance
Shopify
Under the direction of our Head of Retail, design and manage our online retail presence via Shopify. Update products and collections when relevant. Can troubleshoot and solve internal queries such as order fulfilment issues, discount codes and third-party application integrations.
Digital Marketing
Generate and execute email marketing campaigns via our CRM system, collaborating with external partners where necessary. Give guidance and optimise for desktop and mobile, ensuring conversions are at the forefront of these campaigns. Measure insights from email campaigns to gain insight for actionable items for future campaigns.
Creative Production
Design and produce graphics as required for our social channels, website & other outlets. Work in collaboration with external partners, as required and with input from the head of relevant departments. Graphic and design work will not be limited to just digital but also for print so an understanding of exporting your work for print would be beneficial. Contribute to content ideas and design approaches.
SEO, Measurement & Evaluation
Manage all search engine optimization (SEO) activities such as content strategy, link building and keyword strategy to increase rankings on all major search networks, expanding our online presence and gaining more website traffic, donations and sales.
Measure and analyse results to ensure website effectiveness and a return on investment for the organisation. Read data from Google Search Console to resolve fixes that are negatively impacting the site ranking.
A solid understanding of how page content, heading hierarchy, keywords, alt tags, aria-labels, title and meta-description impact site ranking.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. Minimum of 2-4 years' experience in web development and design on WordPress. Understanding the WordPress eco-system and MySQL databases.
2. Solid understanding of website best practices such as heading hierarchy, uploads of images (compressing them), alt tags, aria-labels, colour contrast etc.
3. A firm grasp of WCAG 2.2 level AA and how to implement changes to achieve compliance.
4. Comfortable taking back-ups and server management via Plesk.
5. Excellent knowledge of website security and compliance.
6. Familiarity with Figma or similar design tools for web.
7. Experience using WP Bakery page builder is considered a plus.
8. Knowledgeable in HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
9. Strongly understand mobile-first, responsive web development.
10. Familiar with web tracking tools such as Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager and how to interpret and act on data.
11. Understanding of Google Search Console, how it works and how to resolve issues and submit for verification.
12. Experience in Shopify, creating and managing pages, products and collections. Ability to work collaboratively with external partners for our annual incognito art sale. Knowledge of third-party applications, how to set them up and test they're working as should.
13. Ability to test and troubleshoot when issues arise across both the WordPress and Shopify sites.
14. Knowledge/understanding of the Not-for-Profit sector beneficial.
15. Degree or equivalent in Web Design and Development.
16. Exemplary creative content development skills – graphics, infographics etc.
17. Copywriting skills beneficial but not essential.
18. Strategic planning skills – in collaboration with the team, designing and implementing a website that delivers bottom line results, raises awareness and engagement.
19. Proficient in the use of email marketing systems such as SuperOffice and Klaviyo.
20. Proficient in Customer Relationship Management tools i.e. MS SuperOffice (CRM) – training will be offered, where required.
21. Excellent knowledge of image editing software i.e. Canva Pro & Adobe Creative Suite.
22. Proficient in MS Office.
23. Knowledge of video editing software would be an advantage but not required
24. Experience with social media management tools such as Sprout Social, or similar content scheduling platforms would be an advantage. Training will be offered, where required.
25. Excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills.
26. Good time management and ability to work in a fast-paced creative environment, with an emphasis on results.
27. Ability to use own initiative to work and set out your own tasks in relation to the scope of your role and contribute new ideas enthusiastically.
28. A proven track record of working collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
