GEDON Executive is seeking an exceptionally experienced and strategic Senior Civil Estimator to join a leading Major Infrastructure Contractor in Dublin, Ireland. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the preparation of high-value, complex tender submissions for major civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Ireland.
With a competitive salary of up to €130,000, this position requires a proven expert with significant experience in similar large-scale civil engineering works, ready to drive the work-winning strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Tender Leadership: Lead the end-to-end estimating process for multi-million euro civil infrastructure tenders (e.g., roads, rail, water, marine, and complex groundworks).
First Principles Estimating: Prepare detailed, robust, and accurate cost estimates from first principles, covering all elements of civil works, including labour, plant, materials, and subcontract packages.
Contractual Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive reviews of tender documentation, contracts (especially GCCC or NEC), and specifications to identify and quantify all commercial and contractual risks, allowances, and opportunities.
Supply Chain Management: Manage and direct the engagement with the supply chain, including issuing tender enquiries, critically analyzing and leveling subcontract quotations, and negotiating prices.
Methodology Integration: Work closely with the Planning and Operations teams to develop optimal construction methodologies that are accurately reflected in the cost submission.
Reporting & Adjudication: Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and confidently present the commercial position, risk profile, and strategic recommendations during senior management tender adjudication meetings.
Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the estimating team.
What You'll Bring
Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Senior Civil Estimator (typically 8+ years) with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership estimating role.
Sector Expertise: Essential, significant experience estimating large-scale Civil Engineering and Major Infrastructure projects (e.g., major transport, heavy civils, water treatment, utilities).
Commercial Acumen: Exceptional analytical ability, detailed knowledge of civil engineering construction costs, market rates, and high-level negotiation skills.
Contractual Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of contractual risk allocation under standard forms of contract used in Irish infrastructure (GCCC) or UK/International civil contracts (NEC, FIDIC).
Software Proficiency: Highly proficient in estimating software packages and advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
