Home Care Worker – Listowel
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is recruiting a permanent Home Care Worker to provide person‑centred care to people with dementia and their carers in family homes in Listowel and surrounding areas.
This is a 10 hour per week, permanent contract reporting to a Home Care Coordinator.
Responsibilities
* Build trusting relationships with clients and their carers to create a safe and welcoming environment.
* Assist the coordinator in assessing and updating care plans and carry out care plan activities.
* Provide personal care, including help with meals, toileting, bathing, and other activities as needed.
* Record observations and report them in a timely manner, respecting the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all clients.
* Develop and enhance activities to improve the quality of care delivered, in consultation with the line manager.
* Assist clients and their carers in their dealings with other service providers in the community.
* Adhere to service provision, health and safety policies and procedures set out by the Society.
* Maintain routine contact with the coordinator, attend team and one‑to‑one meetings to contribute to ongoing development.
* Respond flexibly to tasks that may arise beyond the main duties.
Qualifications
* Experience working with people with dementia, older people or people with intellectual disabilities.
* FETAC Level 5 qualification is desirable but not essential.
* Good communication, organisational and observational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Training in dementia, care of elderly or related area is an advantage.
