Sr Automation Engineer (Vision, PLC)

The role focuses on machine controls, sensors, and machine vision for automated manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Provide technical knowledge and leadership in controls, sensor technologies, and inspection systems for automated manufacturing lines.
Support improvement, installation, start-up, validation, and transfer of automated manufacturing equipment.
Assess efficacy, robustness, and reliability of controls, sensor, and inspection hardware/software solutions.
Coach and mentor junior controls engineers.
Resolve technical issues related to controls, machine vision, servo systems, and sensor technologies.
Provide technical input into design of new automation equipment.
Manage multiple manufacturing equipment projects simultaneously.
Generate/update equipment/automation documentation ensuring compliance with quality systems.
Identify risks, assess impact, develop/implement mitigations.
Drive Six Sigma methodology implementation within the team.
Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, 5–8 years relevant experience, or Master's degree and 2–5 years experience, or PhD and 0–2 years.
Strong background in controls systems, HMI, sensor technology, servo drive, and machine vision for automated manufacturing.
Experience in medical device manufacturing (highly desired).
Experience supporting qualification/validation of automated manufacturing equipment (highly desired).
Experience programming or interfacing with robotic systems (desired).
Ability to adapt to fast-moving, changing environments.
Experience with Parker PLC controls platform.
Excellent technical problem-solving and risk-management skills.
Strong understanding of risk-management policies in medical device manufacturing (highly desired).
Detail-oriented, multi-tasking, with focus on quality and accuracy.
Strong technical leadership and collaboration skills.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Travel to other supplier or manufacturing sites as needed.
Six Sigma training and Belt certification (highly desired).
