Role Overview
The Football Tours & Tournaments Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and expanding Tempo Football Academy's Tours & Tournaments Division.
This includes full ownership of Tempo's three flagship tournaments — the Tempo Easter Cup, Tempo Summer Cup, and Tempo Youth World Cup — and delivery of Tempo's international tours (e.g. Manchester United Tour, Madrid Tour, Costa Blanco Cup).
The role blends operational delivery with a strong commercial focus — ensuring world-class experiences for players and families, while also securing sponsorships, driving recruitment, maximising profitability, and expanding Tempo's tournament calendar across Ireland and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tournament Management & Expansion
Lead the planning and delivery of Tempo's flagship tournaments:
Tempo Easter Cup (April)
Tempo Summer Cup (August)
Tempo Youth World Cup (June – flagship international event)
Oversee logistics: venues, referees, fixtures, scheduling, equipment, volunteers, safeguarding.
Deliver professional branding and a high-quality experience for players, parents, and sponsors.
Expansion mandate:
Research, design, and launch new Tempo tournaments (regional, national, and international).
Identify host clubs/venues for expansion tournaments.
Scale the number of participating teams year-on-year.
2. International Tours
Plan and manage Tempo's tours, including:
Manage logistics: flights, accommodation, transport, match fixtures, cultural activities, and insurance.
Act as main liaison with parents, players, and international partners.
Guarantee a safe, professional, and memorable experience for all travellers.
3. Commercial & Sponsorship
Develop and deliver sponsorship strategies for all tournaments and tours.
Build and maintain partnerships with sponsors, local businesses, and corporate stakeholders.
Design attractive sponsorship packages (naming rights, branding, hospitality, digital exposure).
Drive additional commercial opportunities (vendors, merchandise, ticketing, hospitality).
4. Sales & Recruitment
Recruit domestic and international teams for tournaments.
Secure clubs and academies for Tempo tours.
Grow Tempo's international network with clubs, academies, and agencies.
Collaborate with Marketing to promote events and maximise exposure.
5. Financial Management
Own the P&L for the Tours & Tournaments division.
Set and manage budgets, ensuring strong profit margins.
Negotiate with venues, hotels, airlines, and suppliers for best-value agreements.
6. Leadership & Reporting
Build and manage a support team (coordinators, interns, tournament/event staff).
Report regularly to the Programme Director/CEO with performance updates and strategic plans.
Ensure all operations reflect Tempo's T.E.M.P.O. values and long-term vision.
Key Skills & Attributes
Experience in sports event management, tournament organisation, or international tours.
Proven ability in sponsorship sales and commercial development.
Strong project management and organisational skills.
Skilled negotiator with strong relationship-building capabilities.
Financially savvy with P&L management experience.
Excellent communicator across parents, clubs, sponsors, and international partners.
Passion for football and youth player development.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Tournament Growth: Year-on-year increase in team registrations at Easter Cup, Summer Cup, Youth World Cup.
Tournament Expansion: Number of new tournaments launched and sustained.
Sponsorship Revenue: Value of sponsorship secured annually.
Tour Participation: Players/teams recruited for international tours.
Financial Performance: Profit margins delivered per tournament/tour.
Customer Experience: Parent/player satisfaction levels.
Expansion: Number of new partners, tours, or international collaborations established.
