Job Summary:
The Activities Assistant plays a vital role in creating a caring environment that promotes residents' quality of life. The role involves providing social, cultural, and recreational activities tailored to residents' needs.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provide a variety of activities to stimulate residents' physical and mental well-being.
2. Promote privacy, dignity, independence, choice, and rights, treating everyone with respect.
3. Support and guide the residents' committee, ensuring residents are represented and informed.
4. Complete social care needs assessments and keep records updated.
5. Assist residents and families in completing "This is Me" booklets, and ensure residents have memory boxes and room name plates with pictures or symbols.
6. Stay informed about developments in elderly care.
7. Foster good community relations and manage the volunteer program according to center policies.
8. Assist the DON/Social Care Manager in planning special events like summer parties and coffee mornings.
Requirements:
1. Completed Gerontology/Social Care Degree or a QQI/FETAC Level 5 qualification, or currently undertaking such studies, including Care of the Older Person module.
2. Experience supporting residents in social interaction and team assistance.
3. Proven track record and knowledge in older person care sector.
4. Understanding of current HIQA standards.
5. Experience in Dementia Care.
