Main Purpose of Role
We require a Controls & Automation Technician/Commissioning Engineer to work on Water and Wastewater projects across Ireland the UK.
The successful candidate will join the Murphy Water engineering business within the Automation & Controls Department and report to the Automation & Controls Team Manager.
Qualifications
Qualified electrician with an L6 National Craft Certificate (Electrical or Instrumentation).
Role Duties
Report to the Automation & Controls Team Manager.
Onsite validation and commissioning of PLC-based electrical control systems and instrumentation.
Commission electrical equipment onsite.
Check and test electrical and instrumentation MCC panels and wiring schematics.
Coordinate with electrical and mechanical personnel to achieve project deadlines.
Diagnose faults and modify existing electrical control and automation systems.
Perform factory acceptance tests on control panels to ensure compliance with approved documentation.
Conduct site acceptance tests and system sign-off with client representatives.
Monitor and optimise instrumentation, PLCs and electrical control systems.
Prepare technical specifications and supervise sub-contractors.
Generate controls documentation including FDS and I/O lists to meet project specifications.
Ensure all installations on projects assigned are installed according to relevant standards.
Perform all work in accordance with company procedures and health & safety requirements.
Skills / Experience
Motivated, self-starter with excellent communication skills.
Minimum 5 years of electrical experience in an industrial/process commissioning role.
Strong technical problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
PLC & HMI programming experience desirable.
Experience within the water/wastewater industry is a distinct advantage.
