We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant / Cook to join our friendly team at Douglas Nursing and Retirement Home.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, a team player, and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with food preparation and basic cooking tasks
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas
Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items
Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
Follow food safety standards and kitchen procedures
Support the chef or head cook with meal service
Help with stock rotation and inventory as needed
About You:
Previous kitchen experience preferred
Good understanding of hygiene and food safety (Level1/2 Food Hygiene certificate is required)
Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team
Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
Flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends
