Role Overview
AECOM is looking to hire an ambitious Electrical Engineer with HV Project experience to join our growing Transmission & Distribution team in the Republic of Ireland. The role focuses on large‑scale grid infrastructure, grid connections, and private networks, involving major projects such as the EirGrid engineering design, planning, and project management services framework.
Responsibilities
Develop primary plant layouts for HV substations
Specify equipment for HV plant and associated equipment
Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects
Act as Owners’ Engineer on HV substation/Cable and OHL projects
Deliver HV design input to renewable energy projects (battery storage, solar, hydro, wind)
Provide professional services to clients in Ireland, UK, and overseas

Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience working on HV projects
Experience with major utilities or developers
Experience as a designer or project engineer
Developed specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS, and AIS switchgear
Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
Fluency in English
Technical report writing experience
Full driving license and access to a personal vehicle for site visits
Ideally experience on multi‑discipline engineering projects
Ideally holding Chartered accreditation or working toward status
Ideally consultancy experience
Ideally experience reviewing detailed designs and witnessing construction site activities
