Health & Safety Coordinator – 9-Month Fixed Term (Maternity Cover)

About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team and take the lead in developing and delivering robust Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company standards. Our operations are supported by an Integrated Management System (IMS) aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 37301 standards, reflecting our commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability. This is a full-time temporary role (up to 9 months) covering maternity leave, based at our Monaghan site.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure full compliance with environmental, health, and safety legislation.
* Conduct and review workplace risk assessments, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
* Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
* Deliver training sessions on safe work practices and emergency protocols.
* Promote EHS best practices across departments to embed safety into daily operations.
* Maintain accurate EHS documentation, including inspection reports, audits, and training records.
* Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
* Lead and document investigations into incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions.
* Support internal and external EHS audits and ensure timely completion of follow-up actions.
* Drive environmental sustainability initiatives and track performance.
* Coordinate safety meetings and encourage employee engagement in safety programs.
* Maintain and test emergency response plans through regular drills.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in a similar Health & Safety role.
* Strong understanding of ISO standards and SHE legislation.
* A recognised health & safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent).
* Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
* A results‑driven approach with the ability to set and achieve safety objectives.
* Qualification in environmental management or waste legislation compliance.
* Teaching/training qualification (e.g., EDI Pearson Level 3 Award in Education and Training).
