Babel Academy of English is a QQI-aligned English language school committed to delivering high-quality English Language Education (ELE) and exceptional learner support. We strive to provide an inclusive, professional and positive learning environment for both our students and staff. Our schools are located at 160 Capel Street, Dublin 1 and 4-8 Eden Quay, Dublin 1.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated (ADOS) to join our Academic Team on a maternity-cover contract. The ADOS will support the academic management of our year-round programmes and play a key role in teacher development, programme quality and learner experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

* Support the Director of Studies in the daily academic management of the school and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality ELE programmes aligned with QQI and ELE Code requirements .
* Assist with the design, review and updating of curricula, syllabi, schemes of work and assessment frameworks that are clearly aligned to the CEFR and responsive to learner needs.
* Coordinate learner placement, assessment, progress monitoring and academic reporting to ensure fairness and consistency.
* Provide ongoing guidance, support and developmental feedback to teachers, including conducting observations, supporting CPD initiatives and assisting with teacher induction.
* Manage academic administration including timetabling, class allocation, academic record-keeping and maintaining data in compliance with GDPR requirements.
* Respond to academic queries from teachers, learners and administrative staff, ensuring clear communication and quick resolution of issues.
* Support learner orientation and induction processes, including delivering clear information for learners requiring visas or immigration permission.
* Contribute to maintaining a positive, inclusive, supportive learning and working environment for both students and staff.
* Uphold academic integrity and quality assurance practices across all aspects of programme delivery, assessment and documentation.
* Participate in the school's emergency phone rota, taking responsibility for out-of-hours emergency support on a rotating basis.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential Qualifications

* A major award at NFQ Level 7 or above (or international equivalent).
* An English Language Teaching qualification meeting the ELE Code requirements for teachers at year-round ELE providers, e.g.:
* CELT/CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent (minimum Level 6), including observed and assessed teaching practice.
* Minimum 3 years' relevant ELT teaching experience.
* For non-native English speakers: English proficiency at C1+–C2 level, verified by an accredited award.

Desirable Qualifications

* A Level 9 qualification in ELT/Applied Linguistics/Teacher Education (especially for those with teacher development responsibilities).
* Training or certification in academic management.
* Experience teaching a range of CEFR levels and course types.
* Experience in teacher training, academic quality assurance or assessment development.

Position: Assistant Director of Studies (Maternity Cover)

Location: On-site at Babel Academy of English, 160 Capel Street, Dublin 1

Start date: 5 January 2026

End date: 18 December 2026

Type: Fixed-term, full-time contract

Salary starting from €32,000
