Accountable to: Head of Catering
Salary: Appointment will be made on the Grade IV Scale (€35,256 - €51,206, LSI1 €52,768, LSI2 €54,370) at a point in line with Government pay policy
Hours of work: Full-Time, 35 hours per week (5 days per week). The working week is between the core working days of Monday to Friday, based on the Flexi Time arrangement. The post holder must be available during these core days and participate in cover arrangements for lunch breaks and annual leave.

Job Summary
The staff member is required to be flexible and undertake all duties of the Returning Officer for the department as a whole.
Responsibilities
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Key Tasks:
* Act as the link between catering staff, Human Resources Department, and Salaries, ensuring all paperwork is complete and returned to appropriate departments (e.g., Maternity Leave, Force Majeure, Parental Leave) and deal with all staff queries.
* Responsible for all Salary returns weekly, fortnightly, and monthly for Catering Assistants, Catering Officers, and Chefs, including basic hours, additional hours, overtime, etc. Identify issues and liaise with the appropriate line manager.
* Responsible for Sick Leave returns, recording all certified and uncertified sick leave on “Storm”/”SAP” for catering staff. Monitor all medical certificates per hospital policy, notify and return unacceptable certificates, liaising with managers and HR as needed. Provide weekly, fortnightly, and monthly sick leave reports to the Head of Catering and HR.
* Maintain an accurate clockwise system record regarding working hours, sick leave, and other leaves.
* Ensure compliance with hospital policies on absenteeism and other HR policies.
* Provide and print attendance and staff reports as required by management.
* Assist in staff training to facilitate coverage during leave periods.
* Support the smooth operation of the office and cross-cover for staff absences.
* Handle sensitive data with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Perform other duties as required based on service demands.

Qualifications
Selection Criteria:
Applicants will be assessed based on how well they meet these criteria.
Mandatory:
* Professional qualifications, experience, etc., including:
* (a) Experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, or similar statutory health agencies, or a body providing services under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004.
* (b) Passing at least five subjects in the Leaving Certificate, including Mathematics and English or Irish, with at least Grade C in three higher-level subjects.
* (c) Completion of a relevant examination at a comparable standard elsewhere.
* (d) Holding a relevant third-level qualification of at least level 6 on the QQI framework.
Note: Pass in foundation level papers is not acceptable. Grades must be achieved on the established or vocational Leaving Certificate programmes.

(b) Knowledge and ability to properly discharge the office.
