Job Title: Public Sector Role
Role Overview
This is a unique contract assignment in the public sector, offering opportunities for extension or permanency.
1. Main Responsibilities:
* Drainage Maintenance: Channel maintenance including silt and vegetation management, aquatic vegetation cutting, bush trimming/cutting, and tree trimming/cutting. Embankment maintenance involving mowing, mulching, bush trimming/cutting, tree trimming/cutting, and strengthening work.
* Construction: Building earthen embankments, constructing reinforced concrete walls, installing sheet piled retaining and defense walls, and upgrading precast concrete culverts.
* Safety Officer Duties: Familiarity with relevant health and safety legislation affecting construction work, hazard identification and risk assessment on site, advice on control measures and systems of work to minimize risk, communication of health and safety requirements, recommendations for changes to practices, and corrective action up to suspension of work where there is a serious risk of accident or injury.
Qualifications and Experience
A Level 7 Qualification (National Framework of Qualifications) in Occupational Health and Safety is essential. A Level 8 Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety is desirable. Additionally, no less than three years of satisfactory experience in construction work and knowledge of construction methods, site management, and construction design process are required.
