Overview
The Sales Director – Managed Resourcing will lead, expand, and optimise our Managed Resourcing division, delivering high‑performing scientific talent solutions across CLS’s core Lifesciences markets including Medtech, Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Environmental, and Food sectors.
In this pivotal role, you will shape and execute growth strategies to scale the business while exploring adjacent opportunities in sectors such as Semiconductors, Aerospace, and other highly regulated or controlled manufacturing environments.
Combining strategic leadership, commercial acumen, and operational excellence, you will drive revenue growth, enhance client satisfaction, and ensure sustainable profitability through effective workforce deployment, service delivery, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership
* Act as a hands‑on commercial leader, driving business development and leading by example.
* Execute the Managed Resourcing strategic business plan, achieving revenue, margin, and growth objectives.
* Identify, evaluate, and implement new business opportunities and service innovations.
* Partner with Business Development Managers to expand key accounts and drive new resourcing engagements.
* Develop innovative workforce models, including FTE, project‑based, hybrid, and embedded resourcing solutions.
* Own and manage sales performance metrics, ensuring consistent pipeline growth, margin control, and contract profitability.
Client Engagement
* Build and maintain trusted senior‑level relationships with clients across key accounts.
* Lead contract negotiations and service agreements, balancing commercial outcomes with client needs.
* Serve as the senior escalation point for major client accounts, ensuring service excellence and delivery continuity.
* Promote accurate and consistent use of CRM, LIMS, and internal systems to enhance visibility and reporting.
Operational Excellence
* Lead and develop a high‑performing delivery team spanning recruitment, onboarding, deployment, and service operations.
* Continuously improve processes for training, onboarding, and assignment of scientific personnel.
* Ensure full regulatory and quality compliance with GMP, FDA, MHRA, EMA, and internal standards.
* Establish and monitor operational KPIs and performance dashboards to drive utilisation, service quality, and client satisfaction.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Quality, HR, and Commercial teams to deliver seamless service.
* Maintain a strong technical understanding of laboratory services to align solutions with client needs.

Where You’ve Come From
* Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, etc.) or a Business degree with experience in a scientific or technical environment.
* Proven track record in B2B relationship management within scientific services, contract resourcing, or managed workforce models.
* Demonstrated leadership experience in scientific, technical, or managed service environments.
* Strong understanding of GMP‑regulated operations (pharma, biotech, medtech).
* Proven ability to grow a business unit or service line, driving both top‑line and bottom‑line results.
* Commercial expertise including contract negotiation, margin optimisation, and PL accountability.
