The purpose of this post is to be responsible for providing a high quality, patient-focussed Respiratory Diagnostic service for referred patients in the Chronic Disease hub and aligned hospital, under the clinical and governance framework of the designated Pulmonary Laboratory Department.
The Respiratory Physiologist, Senior may also support respiratory investigations in the Pulmonary Function laboratory in an aligned hospital to the Chronic Disease hub and will be expected to work as part of this hospitals Integrated Care Respiratory Team.
The Respiratory Physiologist, Senior post will work as part of a Respiratory specialist MDT comprised of the Respiratory Consultant, Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) (Respiratory, Integrated Care), Senior Physiotherapist, Smoking Cessation practitioner and GPs.
Caseload will consist of adults over 16 years, with suspected or diagnosed COPD and/or asthma.
Spirometry will be the tool to aid both diagnosis and management decisions in these patient populations.
Caseload will also include previously diagnosed patients for review and update of staging of disease for assisting in the management of their care.
