Summary:
Our client, a biopharmaceutical company based in Cork, is seeking a
Senior Buyer
to support the procurement and planning of raw materials used in both commercial and clinical manufacturing.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely material availability, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and supporting efficient end-to-end purchasing operations.
Responsibilities:
Develop and improve systems and processes for the full purchasing cycle
Collaborate with procurement teams and manage supplier performance and relationships
Build effective partnerships with key suppliers to optimise forecasting, purchase orders and invoicing processes, supporting strong internal and external customer service
Oversee Purchase Order management, including creation, submission to suppliers, status updates, enquiries and closure assessments
Conduct materials planning and forecasting using ERP MRP, Min Max systems and other electronic tools to determine order requirements based on consumption and scheduling
Manage procurement activities and Material Requirements Planning to ensure timely and cost-effective material acquisition
Maintain and update item data within SAP systems
Generate supplier performance scorecards and meet with supplier account managers to communicate production demands and forecasts
Monitor supplier performance and report findings to management
Manage administrative duties, including processing returns to the vendor and resolving PO or invoice-related issues
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or a related field
5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain or materials planning within a manufacturing or regulated environment
Strong understanding of MRP, materials planning and forecasting processes
Experience working with ERP systems, ideally SAP, including item master and PO management
Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance
Experience with Min Max planning tools, vendor scorecards and procurement workflows is an advantage
