Cork Job Type: Full-time About the Role We are seeking a full-time Orthopaedic Nurse to join our team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care within our General Orthopaedic clinics.
This role plays a key part in ensuring that specialist orthopaedic nursing knowledge and skills are applied to enhance patient outcomes and support the overall service.
As a senior clinical professional and role model, you will promote best practice, contribute to continuous improvement, and support colleagues within a multidisciplinary team.
You will help drive departmental success through effective communication, collaboration, and commitment to high standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities Assess and identify orthopaedic/surgical candidates for pre-admission and post-discharge, supporting safe discharge planning and referral processes.
Act as a key resource for orthopaedic patients attending other departments or external services.
Deliver patient education in both clinical and outpatient settings.
Support the development and maintenance of accurate records for arthroplasty cases in line with national standards.
Collaborate with surgeons and the wider team to coordinate patient care effectively.
Ensure clear, accurate, and confidential communication of patient information.
Assist in the development and delivery of education, teaching, and training programmes for staff.
Candidate Requirements Current NMBI registration.
Higher Diploma in Orthopaedic Nursing (desirable).
Minimum 5 years' post-registration experience in orthopaedics.
Strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently with strong initiative and self-motivation.
