About the Role
The Director of Quality is responsible for leading standards and delivering world-class quality within their remit at both an organisational and Business Unit leadership level.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver 'hands-on' help, support, and assistance to all project, BU stakeholders, and supply chain partners at a BU & project level.
2. Develop and maintain a strong network throughout the business, communicating widely and appropriately, to build a positive Quality culture.
3. Identify the need for changes through Quality innovations, lessons learned, and legislative updates to the 'Quality Management System' and the delivery of quality on sites.
4. Analyse and identify opportunities and risks arising from project, sector, client, or country-specific requirements and current and future legal and regulatory requirements.
5. Create, share, and contribute to the approval of the Quality strategy with BU MDs.
6. Act as a medium for connecting people across the division and wider business and supply chain for the benefit of sharing knowledge.
7. Ensure that the Quality strategy is being tabled at every opportunity and tracked for success.
8. Develop specific 'Contingency/Improvement/Action/Leadership Plans' to address new and emerging opportunities and risks.
9. Undertake assigned roles in support of wider business requirements, programmes, and business improvement initiatives.
10. Frequently identify continuous improvement opportunities to eliminate recurrence, potential, or likelihood of risks or events.
11. Evaluate defects and sustain an accurate rolling cost for defects and reworks for quarterly review at board meetings.
12. Oversee the AI process, assure root causes are correct, and feed back preventive close outs to avoid recurrence.
13. Ensure updates relating to significant events are communicated in a timely and appropriate manner.
14. Where needed, seek out and appoint an independent and/or external specialist to improve quality performance.
15. Identify the need for changes or improvements to the QMS through interaction with BU operational needs to enhance defect avoidance and feedback to the 'Quality Management System.'
16. Support the early identification, at procurement and mobilisation stages, of high-risk supply chain partners who require help and intervention to achieve our standards.
17. Highlight gaps and propose improvements to enhance our QMS while being conscious about waste, value, and lean techniques.
18. Couch and motivate others in the effective implementation of the management systems.
19. Ensure that the output from Quality performance analysis at BU & Divisional level is addressed with appropriate ownership for satisfactory ownership and close out.
20. Proof and approve the accuracy and appropriateness of collated quality data for Divisional events, innovations, lessons learned, etc., for the relevant board meetings.
21. Prepare, review, and approve the quality report / Power BI and raise key agenda items to the fore to enhance ownership, positive review, and closure.
22. Identify, help prepare, and present specific and relevant ad hoc quality event and defect reports at BU & Divisional Level.
23. Analysis, trends, and presents for awareness and knowledge new and recurring trends collated from sources such as site audits, NCRs, snag lists, and independent audits.
24. Oversee the implementation of and approve the 'Internal quality Audit Schedule' annually and track monthly and share the 'Internal Quality Audit Schedule' with BU MDs & Quality leads.
25. Seek out local and external innovations and knit them in where appropriate to enhance efficiency and world-class quality design, manufacture, construction, and aftercare.
26. Identify and approve Quality training material for role-defined needs.
27. Liaise with LMS to target staff and SC audiences for relevant training needs.
28. Deliver and track Quality training and report a KPI for compliance.
29. Engage with external bodies and industry/business sector groups aligned to our quality goals and BU/Divisional needs.
