About the Role:

The Divisional Manager, reporting to the Chief Executive, is a member of the Council's management team. The appointee will work in a dynamic and progressive Local Authority which provides a multiplicity of services to its inhabitants. The diagram below sets out the current management structure of Cork County Council.

The Chief Executive and 3 Divisional Managers act as the Senior Leadership Team of Council's Senior Management Team and organisation. As a Member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Divisional Manager is expected to play a pivotal role in giving strategic leadership to the organisation and the County. Critical to this will be the Divisional Manager's role in proactively advancing resource utilisation, the organisation's strategic thinking and positioning, its structural form and its performance in growing and advancing the Council's impact on the sustainable growth of Cork County and the many and diverse communities it serves.

About You:

The successful candidate will: -


• Lead and manage a team to deliver on the particular functional areas and programmes within their remit, ensuring a strong focus on delivery of results,


• Contribute, as a member of the senior management team, to the development and delivery of long term vision for the County that promotes the physical, social, cultural and economic environment in an integrated way,


• Manage and motivate a multi-disciplinary team,


• Work with the Council and its committees in developing policy and strategic plans for their areas of responsibility that are in line with overall national priorities and aim to deliver services in the most efficient manner possible, to meet the specific needs of the local community,


• Manage significant change programmes, in line with national and local priorities,


• Network effectively with internal and external stakeholders including representatives of Government departments, state agencies, business and community representatives and other bodies to deliver priority programmes and projects,


• Critically analyse and manage the deployment of resources (including human and financial resources), within their areas of responsibility to ensure delivery of optimal results within the available resources.


• Promote the role of the Council and ensure a strong customer focus amongst the teams, reflecting the requirements for balanced and fair decision making and equity of treatment,


• Keep abreast of relevant external developments, trends and opportunities which may impact on their functional area, including external funding opportunities,


• Continually strive to improve services and performance and to adjust to a changing and fast moving environment; publicjobs Divisional Manager Cork County Council
